Location
Set in the centre of Bilbao, the Vista Alegre Hotel is located close to the Bull Ring. The excellent situation of the property allows guests to enjoy the city's attractions that include the Guggenheim Museum, a pleasing walking distance away. The hotel is also easily accessible from the Abando Railway Station, the Garellano-Terminus Bus Station, the airport as well as the cities of Madrid, Barcelona, San Sebastian and France by car through the Bilbao Plaza Zabalburu Exit.

 My room was not very clean, and it did not have much light (the window was facing concrete wall). But there were better rooms in the hotel! The hotel suggested very basic continental breakfast, but there was a big supermarket store neat the hotel. So if breakfast is not included, one may prefer to buy food in the supermarket instead of buying the hotel breakfast.
The location is very good indeed, around 15-20 minutes by foot from the termibus, train station, Guggenheim museum, city center etc. But some neighboring streets were not fun to walk at night. They seemed not safe enough, though nothing dangerous happened. I am talking about the San Francisco neighborhood. Overall, it is an OK place to stay, mainly due to its convenient location.- 17-Sep-2009 Within walking distance of the city centre. Budget hotel that includes a continential style breakfast.
