Some of the rooms in the Baldwin Hotel are alongside an alley that is used for garbage collection and storage of recycling bins. If you like sleeping with the window open, be prepared to hear glass being disposed off by the various bars/restaurants very late at night. These recycling bins are picked up every morning around 6:00 AM(except weekends), requiring 2 or 3 trucks to back-up (with the typical beeper echoing in the alley) to collect the contents of the bins. The end of the alley is a facing a parking garage (typically 1 or 2 car alarms seem to go off spontaneously each night). It takes a few nights to get used to this. For the rest the hotel is fine. Complementary coffee is available til late at night.- 26-Aug-2008 Arrived at 11am, easy check-in and room was available. The hotel lobby was nice and the reception staff very friendly. Theres an internet pc (chargeable), sightseeing leaflets, settees, drink and snack machine as well as a complimentary coffee machine (there's none in the room).
The room was nicely laid out, large and clean. Nice size wardrobe (walk in), ensuite, desk, tv (usual channels) and very comfy queen size bed.
The hotel is in an excellent location, right by Chinatown and two blocks from Union Square where you can catch the cable car to Fishermans Wharf.
You can book a shuttle to the airport at the hotel. I was told to be back 10 minutes before the allocated pickup time but they arrived 20minutes before, luckily I went back to the hotel 25minutes before to sort my things out. This cost just $15 and the driver drops you off at the correct terminal.- 08-Oct-2007 |
