Hotel is clearly in decline unfortunately - maybe that's why the price is so reasonable? On the surface it still looks rather grand but in the details they've started to lose it. For example the chairs in the restaurant were all badly stained and the dado rails and shelves there were very grubby. I have to say though that the food was still good with a varied choice for breakfast. The swimming pool looked a little murky - don't think I saw anyone in it in the 4 days we were there. Our room was fine although the bathroom may not have been as sparkling as some fussier people might expect.
Location is great especially for the Night market. There is also a particularly good massage place above MacDonald's opposite. Well placed for nearby restaurants - fantastic steak at the Hoffbrauhouse if you want a change from Thai. The Riverside Inn is a short ride away and that was great too. So the hotel has a couple of issues but not too serious and price was still good. We'd definately go back.- 08-Sep-2006 Jackhammer going all night out front repairing a hole in front of the hotel on hotel property. Staff at check in and the cashier unfriendly. Everything expensive comparatively, internet usage, laundry, drinks, etc. Carpets in rooms filthy. Generally the building is pretty rundown and the staff is gurmpy. Disappointed. You don''t want a front side of hotel room because the night market is right there and going strong until midnight.- 07-Sep-2005 The Suriwongse Hotel is centrally located for easy walking access to the Night Bazaar and shops along the main road. Although the hotel is a bit old, it was comfortable, clean, and well-maintained. The breakfast buffet included with the price of the room was very plentiful and a great way to start the day. The Cafe staff were very friendly and accommodating. Best of all, the hotel rates were extremely affordable.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a clean, comfortable, well-situated hotel for a very modest cost. - 07-Sep-2005 |
