 This is a charming upscale hotel with very pleasant and helpful staff. Rooms are small but like the hotel very well designed and they have done an excellent job in decorating them.
The hotel blends the old with the new and creates a relaxing atmosphere. Location is up the hill of the castle so your legs will get strong but if you want the hotel always has taxis make the trip, and the same is true of your return.
The streets are so narrow that there when you are in the cab there is only enough room between the walls and car to fit a skinny sideways body! Hope we can return.- 20-Sep-2007 We spent there three days in September 2006.
The good news: extremely friendly and helpfull staff,a stylish old/modern design, nice and clean rooms (air conditioned), "romantic" location on the back of the St Georges castle (peacocks in the coutyard, etc.), very silent location, excellent breakfast.
The "bad" news: neither restaurant nor bar in the hotel (a "self service" bar is available but not comparable to a real bar...), the hotel is located on the top of Lisbon's highest hill (think about comfortable shoes), no swimming pool (in September this was not a problem but will probably be during the summertime), price a bit high.
I would recommend this hotel for short, "romantic-oriented" trips and would avoid it for longer journeys, especially if you travel with children.- 17-Sep-2006 Had a wonderful stay - the hotel is in a good location and served a great breakfast.
