The Semifonte was a great hotel even if it was a bit difficult to find. I believe there are now maps online showing the locations which would have helped. While it is the Semifonte Hotel "Barberino Val D'Elsa" it is actually just outside Poggibonsi. It is in an industrial area but it is an easy walk to town. Tis would not be a good choice of a hotel if you were not driving. It was very quiet and comfortable. Free Wi-fi throughout the hotel was a nice bonus.- 31-Oct-2007 The restaurant meals were very disappointing as all three of us had trouble eating them due to the high quantity of salt. Also we did not feel that one of the dishes was very fresh. The locality was terrible as it is an industrial area and there were no restaurants nearby or any other eateries forcing us to stay there for a meal. Not ideal for anyone travelling without their own car. The bus to San Gimignano did not go the same route back to Poggibonsi leaving us stranded without even the availabilty of a taxi to get us back to the hotel - couldn't find someone who speaks English. If it's San Gimignano you're wishing to visit, better to stay in San Gimignano as accommodation is cheaper and there is no pressure to leave by 8pm to catch the last bus. Also relying on taxis in Babarino Val D'elsa means being asked to pay 25 EUR for a 6 minute ride. Funnily enough when the hotel arranged the taxi the next day we only paid 7 EUR for one minute less (same taxi driver too). - 20-Sep-2007 The people in this hotel were very helpful and friendly. We had a comfortable holiday.- 02-Jul-2005 |
