Location
The Royal Lanta Resort Hotel is located on Koh Lanta Yai, an Island on the Andaman Sea in Southern Thailand's Krabi Province. Overlooking the Islands of Koh Phi Phi Don and Koh Phi Phi Le, the hotel is tucked away on a remote Thai Island along a three quarter mile long white sand beach and is surrounded by a lush tropical forest.

 The service in the resturant at Royal Lanta ws not up to the standards I received in other places all over Thailand. It was adequate but indifferent. One morning I got to the breakfast buffet at 1 minute before 10 and they were starting to put things away. I asked the chef who was still cooking a pancake if I could just get one pancake and he refused saying it was done. All other places I stayed bent over backwards to be accomodating. Technically he was justified in refusing but it would have taken little effort and been good customer service.
The rooms are very simple for the price, which is high for Thailand but the pools and amenities are lovely. Ther is not enough shade at the area near the sea and at the sea view pool. The mountain view pool has a lot of shade and is quiet with few children
