 I always ask for a non-smoking room. Although all rooms in Italy should now be non-smoking, the previous guests had clearly smoked in the room. The bin was not even emptied! Moreover, even the sheets and towels stank of smoke - made me wonder about the laundry company the hotel uses. When I raised the smoking issue with reception, they didn't seem to care.
