 The Renoir is a good hotel for someone looking for a place to sleep. The hotel facilities are not great (no coffee/tea making facility in room), but adequate if you are there to discover the city and not spend time in your room. The location is close to the BART, Civic Centre & Union Square. With a tram stop directly out of the front door. Be aware the area is home to many street people/homeless. As a male I felt safe, but at night time I would suggest walking the streets with company. The staff were very polte and overall it was good for the price and as a place to sleep. - 22-Jan-2008 The immediate location is a little dodgy! Having said that, I never felt unsafe, but wouldn't linger at night. The hotel was OK, but having to go to the lobby for wireless access was a nuisance. The proximity to downtown was excellent though, being only 5 minutes walk to Westfield Plaza and the Historic Tram. Apart from the small irritations, I would stay again.- 17-Mar-2007 Staff were pleasant and accommodating. Great ajoining Brazilian restaurant where you could get a good breakfast, BBQ (and lots of it) or a drink at the bar. Furniture was a bit dated but good value for money. Depending on personal taste the hotel is not modern or minamalist in design. No tea/coffee facilities in the room but free tea/coffee urn downstairs. Although only 15 minutes walk from the shops the real down fall was the location on the edge of the red light area and the homeless people round about. - 16-Dec-2005 |
