Location
Situated in the heart of Bruges, the Relais Oud Huis Amsterdam is within a short walk to the Market Square along the picturesque Spiegelrei canal. From the unique location, guests are able explore and discover the centuries of history in that is imbedded in the region.
Rooms
The rooms and suites each have a unique character and view, while there are also decorated with antique paintings and furniture.
Restaurant
The Relais Oud Huis Amsterdam encompasses series of large and small lounges and reception rooms of varying sizes, which offer an adjustable space to welcome you in serene surroundings. The royal breakfast buffet is served at the open fire, surrounded with candlelight and classical background music.
General
The meeting rooms, overlooking the garden or the canal, are situated in the 13th century building. The old library can host 15 people and the Isabella boardroom can hold up to 25 guests.
 For the price we expected a luxury hotel. We'd upgraded to a premium room, overlooking the canal. We got a dark top floor room with tiny windows. Reception were OK but unapologetic about moving us when we complained. The whole place is in need of refurbishment. Bathroom equipment missing or not wokring: e.g. extractor fan not working, taps falling off when turned. Showers are primitive, though there's plenty of hot water and excellent central heating. The rooms, though big and well furnished, look worn out. But the beds are good. The common areas are stuffed with antiques but shabby: e.g. peeling wall paper. The hotel is under-staffed. The bar is often unattended at peak times. The reception staff is so-so - courteous but not overly concerned. Breakfast was very good. No hotel restaurant although there are lots of great places to eat nearby. The location is wonderful. Bruges is a lovely for a weekend. Next time we'll probably try another hotel.- 12-May-2007 |
