 We stayed recently for one night to visit family. As a kiwi I was disapointed that this is the standard of some of our local accommodation in such a tourist spot. The hotel is well past its used by date. The rooms are very basic and the blankets on our bed were thread bear! We hadn't even checked out of our room, our belongings were still in it we had only gone to breakfast and it had been cleaned ready for next people. I do hope they redid it as we hadn't finished with the bathroom! just a bit quick I think. The pool area too left something to be desired. Such a shame a revamp and it could be great. We stayed here 30yrs ago I don't think much has changed. However the breakfast was great and very good value. - 10-Sep-2008 I stayed here just for one night. My room was ion the ground floor with a sliding glass door to a grassed area next to the Te Puia Geothermal park. I could see the mud pool and the Geyser from my room.
I ate with some people I met at the hotel. My food was OK but others did not get what the menu stated they were getting. The soup and garlic bread came without garlic bread; the pork chops and glazed pear had no pears, the vegetables in a crepe basket came in a bowl and the prawns with grapefruit and avocado had neither grapefruit nor avocado.
Other than that the hotel was fine and well located.- 05-Sep-2008 The location is great, it is quiet but still central. The Hotel is past it's best, and in need of some major refurbishment. The view from our Room was fabulous (Geyser view). We booked a Quad room which was quite tight. No information in the room on how everything worked, where everything was or any tourist information. It was warm, clean enough and the staff were pleasant but would probably not stay there again, would look for something more modern.- 14-Jul-2008 |
