 Very conveniently located with all of the basic necessities provided.- 05-Sep-2009 Stayed at the Abbey Apartments for 6 nights in July 2009, for about AUD 90-100 a night. The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location (across from Roma Street Station, and a 1 minute walk from George Street) was superb. All in, very good value for money.
These are serviced apartments so don't expect in-house restaurants, a gym or a heated swimming pool. The apartment comes with a washing machine and dryer (laundry detergent included!), broadband internet (optional purchase) and some Foxtel channels (my TV had some tuning problems). The front desk closes at night, so make arrangements if you require a late check-in. I didn't, but the resident manager wasn't too grouchy when I woke him up on the emergency phone number - fantastic!
Overall the stay was a very positive experience, and I would stay there again.- 28-Jul-2009 This was a huge disappointment. The service was minimal and not satisfactory - we asked for extra pillows to be told - "not at the moment - but ring back maybe at 6 o'clock and we'll see" When we called back at 6 - no one answered the phone.
The room was not cleaned properly - just under the doona cover of the bed on the floor were dirty black earbuds from previous tenants. The shower stall air vent was filthy - need we go on?
There was also a damp foul smell in the corridors - but this may have been from recent storms. The pool was also dirty with a lot of debris and slimy on the bottom.
