The location is very good, being only 50m from the bottom of the cable car lines (Powell & Mason, Powell & Hyde(?)).
Sadly, it is also not far from some less attractive areas - mostly West and South. It is good for Market and Nordstom and the F Line!- 10-Aug-2007 The Concierge was helpful in providing local directions. The food is of dubious quality with the breakfast below par and luke-warm. A request for eggs in another format than the scrambled version one might have asked for a free portion of Beluga Caviar! A far better option is a take a short walk to Lori's Diner or Sears a few blocks away for a tasty and ‘fresh’ breakfast. The Dining room was raided one morning by a local down-and-out, he succeeded in stealing bread and cereal from the servery; when a feeble effort was made to eject him he threatened to knife the member of the Dining room staff. Apparently this occurs regularly and the Police don't bother to get involved due to the liberal regime in the city? The Pickwick is an average hotel, comfortable, clean with helpful staff, although over-priced for the classification. For the shopper it’s next door to Bloomingdales, also well located for many restaurants in SF. - 05-Jun-2007 Great location and excellent evening meals served at the restaurant.- 20-Nov-2006 |
