 We (young couple) stayed at Pestana Bahia during carnaval 2009. We expected much more, keeping in mind that it is 5 star hotel. It's worth max 3. The only thing good about it is the security. The hotel is old and screaming for a renovation. Seems like they just do the necessary minimum for the hotel not to fall apart. Our room was on 3rd floor, very very old, especially bathroom. I've seen better in 2 star hotels. The bathtub and shower curtain were just disgusting, ceiling was covered with stains from water leaks from the upper floor. The biggest concern was the cleanliness or the absence of it. Only the bed was made properly, we even had to call reception, because the towels have not been changed. Breakfast was very basic, cakes seemed so dry as if they were 1 week old. On top of all this, on our last day we saw a cockroach running all over a yogurt machine in the restaurant.
