 We stayed 2 nights in a petite double room - they weren't kidding about it being petite! This hotel is beautifully presented with modern sound proof rooms & a friendly reception. Our room was perfectly porportioned for my husband & I who are average height and average build. I think for larger guests requiring american sized rooms the petite double will be way too small - the bed is quite compact and the ensuite is tiny. The location & price are absolutely perfect. Only negative was that the hotel's restaurant was closed for renovations (aug 08) so we had to have breakfast around the corner. I wouldn't go to the cafe the hotel recommends (on flinders st) as the food is terrible - the 2nd morning we found this fantastic cafe (can't remember the name) just off collins st at the station end down a little walkway. Overall we were very happy with our stay. - 06-Aug-2008 The hotel isn't fully operational yet in that their restaurant has not yet opened - it should be opened soon. However, there are good places close by to obtain food. The location is excellent in that trams to just about anywhere in Melbourne can be caught from stops just outside the hotel. Southern Cross station and the DFO are a short walk away. Rooms are comfortable and clean.
