Check in was a long process and the girl on the desk didn't understand enough English to realise that I had paid a deposit already so I had to leave it until I checked out - which meant instead of handing keys in we had to queue for about 15 minutes to check out and make sure we had paid the correct amount. We were first put in the wrong room as I had asked for a double room so were then swapped. We wish we had taken an executive room as it would have worked out a lot cheaper as drinks in the bar were so expensive that the extra £30 for the better room would have covered less than 3 rounds of drinks for the 2 of us, also we would have got a breakfast aswell. The hotel itself was lovely and clean and very modern, just a shame we had a view of the railway track and high rise blocks!- 29-Nov-2006 Although i have stayed at this hotel previously, i had upgraded to an executive room for this occassion. The check in counter was busy and when i was dealt with the computer system did not recognise my or my partners bank cards to leave an imprint and after alot of hassle i was forced to leave the hotel and obtain the cash from a money machine. Hardly a great start. It took less time to get from Paddington station in a taxi than it did to check in. The complimentary tray for executive guests was not in the room like we were told and we had to ring down for the tray and even for the mini-bar to be activated. Only one robe was received but we had given up by then! The executive lounge was nice enough but the wine was far from executive, flavouless and cheap would best describe it. The bar on the ground floor is very nice and offers table service, at a price, which adds to a relaxing ambiene unrivaled by many large hotels. Overall a lovely hotel that offers good last minute deals.- 06-Sep-2006 The hotel was situated in a lovely part of London close to many attractions.
It was very clean and very good value for money.
The major problem I experienced was when the fire alarm went off and I tried to exit the building via the designated fire exit. The external fire escape door at the bottom of a stairwell was jammed shut. Staff were very confused and unable to assist in directions or what was happening.
This was all very worrying for such a new hotel.- 28-Dec-2005 |
