The New Asia Hotel is centrally located in Shanghai, a few steps away from the famous Bund and the pedestrian street on Nanjing Road.
Rooms
The 353 guestrooms are well decorated and are in good condition providing you a comfortable and pleasant stay.
Restaurant
The hotel has got several restaurants, featuring especially Chinese food. There are three main restaurants in the hotel that serve a mix of cuisine ranging from Cantonese to Shanghai and French delicacies.
General
Conference facilities are also provided for the business guests to host meetings and conferences. Furthermore, recreational amenities include a sauna and gymnasium.
Everything about the hotel was good and I would recommend it BUT two small things could be better:
Internet access should be free. It is ridiculous to charge extra for this facility, which is now a "must have". It's like charging extra for running water! Water is included in the room rate. Internet access should be, too.
The "western breakfast" was poor. It was in a "banquet room" upstairs and well before the end of the breakfast time, most of the items had run out. The staff were clearing food away about half an hour before the end.
Overall, though, for the price, it was good and I will certainly stay there again.
SB- 27-Jun-2007 The hotel is very modern with good facilities. The room furniture was very good and modern. They have three taps in the bathroom. The extra tap for drinking water only. This feature is very important travelling in Asia where we had to buy bottled water everyday.
They supplied us with a modern hair dryer and a pair of slippers everyday. In my opinion it could be rated as a 4 star hotel. If one day I return to Shanghai I will look forward to stay at this lovely hotel. The staff was very helpful and they always had plenty around the lobby, ready to assist. The smorgasbord breakfast was very good and with a great variety of food and beverages. They have two restaurants. One Chinese and the other Western style. During breakfast I was involved in a conversation with a group of Australians and Kiwis. They were very happy with their accommodation at this hotel. The hotel has an airport shuttle bus, which is very convenient. I can't fault this hotel, even if I try. Well done. John R.- 19-Apr-2007 |
