Also located on Vita Levu, Nadi is one of the most popular options for tourism because it is home to the Nadi International Airport and ferries heading to Denarau Island or Mamanuca Islands leave from Nadi on a regular basis. One of the biggest attractions in Nadi is the Sleeping Giant Gardens, actor Raymond Burr’s unique collection of tropical orchids. Many local attractions involve botanical gardens, so bring a camera.
There are many cheap Nadi Hotels available all over the city. In fact, percentage-wise, Nadi has the most hotels in all of Fiji. There are two options for choosing hotels. Many hotels are near the airport, while a few are closer to the bay area. All price ranges are available, starting from cheap, to mid range and more luxurious choices. Aquarius Fiji on the Beach is on Wailoaloa Beach and a short drive from area shopping. Smuggler’s Cove Beach Resort and Hotel Nadi is in the heart of the city near the beach and about ten minutes from the airport. Tanoa International Hotel Nadi is less than three minutes from the airport.
Sugar cane grows well in Nadi’s tropical climate, enabling tourism and sugar cane to have equal effects on the area economy. Many tourists take in a tour of a sugar cane plantation during their visit. As this is the third largest city in Fiji, Nadi sees a high number of tourists every year. Nadi is on the eastern coast of Vita Levu, opposite the largest city, Suva. For this reason, most tourists stay on Vita Levu and make day trips to the other Fijian islands.
