While the room was clean, the restaurant area was in need of a thorough clean. We changed rooms because the bed sloped upwards towards the feet end, only to find the bed in the next room was the same. The restaurant was overpriced causing us to go out to find somewhere else to eat. The bar ran out of Carling lager because they had a function downstairs, leaving a choice of beers I didn't like. Hot breakfast was ok but could have been hotter, and the fresh fruit option left something to be desired. The pool was excellent but the I consider the £109 per night rate to be too high. Overall we were disappointed with the hotel, I stayed there years ago when it was a [another hotel] and thought it was excellent, but it seems to have gone downhill. - 15-Feb-2008 huge room - loads of space to move about in, even had a settee , extra touches included:- iron + ironing board, hairdryer , magnified make-up mirror in bathroom with light (excellent) ,huge warm fluffy bathrobes and complimentry crisps, chocolate and bottled water for our young child which were much appreciated as we had tea or coffee for ourselves . We will definitely be using Menzies again and would highly recommend it to others.- 12-Nov-2007 We only stayed here for one night but it was a comfortable stay and the staff were really helpful. Top marks for the breakfast too! The only negative point, for us, was the fact that the hotel was so far outside of cambridge city centre. There is a useful bus service from a near by superstore, however, and the hotel also has a deal with a local taxi company; which we used with no problems after a night out in cambridge.- 20-Sep-2007 |
