The fees for use of the room telephone are pure robbery. The hotel brochure should clearly indicate that a local call will cost the customer $1 per call (other top hotels in DC do not charge for local calls). And when I misdialed a number and a hotel employee answered instead, that was also charged $1. Worst is the less-than-2-minutes call I made to a number in Seattle; I was charged $23.50 for this, even if the hotel brochure indicated that a surcharge of $6.50 was to be paid for long distance calls. What a dishonest and deceptive system. No wonder the hotel puts 2 telephone units in the room. Advice to prospective guests: keep away from those trecherous room telephones!- 06-Dec-2007 |
