We spent 4 nights at Kata Palm Resort & Spa Phuket in Jan 09. The place looked great on their website and we had high expectations.
The front of the hotel did live up to our expectation as it looked like a Thai temple and the front lobby/check-in was grand looking. The service leaves much to be desired. The 2 check-in girls kept chatting to each other and it took them forever to check us in. It was slow even by Thai standards.
We booked a Deluxe Pool View Room. It's spacious but the furnishing is very basic and worn out. The towels are old and frayed and they don't give you fresh toiletry items daily. You get the usual soap, shampoo etc when you check in and that's it.
The pools were nice and the service good. The breakfast buffet is pathetic with a large assortment of unappetising food (greasy spaghetti for breakfast anyone?).
All in all it's a Three Star resort with fairly basic amenities. If we were to return to the area, we'd try the resorts in Kata Noi instead.- 10-Jan-2009 We really enjoyed our stay at Kata Palm Resort and Spa (there was no spa actually, however). The service was particularly excellent. The included breakfast was very nice and again, good service. There restaurant however was not especially good. The room was nice, very clean and spacious. - 29-Jan-2008 The resort was lovely but in the first room we stayed in the shower would not empty out and had to be sorted out by maintenance also remote control did not work. The other room rented the basin continually blocked up, the toilet also stopped flushing away. General maintenance was an issue for the resort. If it was not for this basic problem on maintenance and plumbing this would be a fantastic hotel- 04-Nov-2007 |
