 Personally, I think this hotel is a hidden treasure. Twice we have used it when unable to get into the 5* resort hotels and I think it is good value (although prices double for the Christmas/New Year period).
It is used a lot but European tour companies and there are a lot of German and Scandanavian guests, therefore standards are high.It has a great uncrowded beach (better than at Laguna). The hotel is close to the airport (10 min transfer) but quite far from anything else. That said, there are a few beach bars and the hotel runs a bus service to Patong and Phuket town as well as a reasonable taxi service. I would definitely use this hotel again. It is worth it''s 4 stars but is not 5star, although facilities, incl. gym, are good. I would recommend it to a friend. Restaurants are very good and good value for money.
