 We had a great stay at the Hotel des Bains. The pool and facilities were unbeatable, staff were very friendly and knowledgable, our huge room was always clean. We took our 3-year-old son and, because of the big grounds and safe children's pool, there was plenty for him to do. The food in the restaurant in the evenings was disappointing and pricey considering the quality, but the bar offered alternatives and there were plenty of local restaurants to choose from so it was well placed. Beach facilities were pretty poor, and expensive, but with such a great pool it didn't matter. The courtesy boat to San Marco every half an hour was a lovely touch too. We'd certainly recommend it, and will be going back there soon. - 06-Sep-2007 Stay here to relax and enjoy the beach life. Just a boat ride away from the hustle and bustle of St. Marks Square. The downtown area is 5-10 minute walk to shops, restaurants and some great Gelato.
Although this is an old Resort Hotel, I did not find it unappealing, as some may have said, with regards to the antiques, or creaky floors. We stayed in 6 different hotel on a two week trip, and the breakfast at the Hotel de Bains was the best that we had. But, the prices for drinks at the pool bar were a little steep...24 Euros for a bottle of Becks and a Gin and Tonic...Ouch!
Skip the private beach...138 Euros for a cabana/day...and relax at the HUGE pool. The surrounding grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The outdoor cafe, at the pool, was open, but we never ate there because we were too full from the great breakfast.
We would definitely stay here again. It will give you a trip back in time, to another era. Where the rich went to be pampered 100 years ago.- 12-Jul-2007 |
