 If you are looking for a cheap hotel that is clean, this is a good one for you. The room was clean and rather big, though the bed was a bit small. Toilet was shared in the hallway, but was not a problem. The bathroom was also clean. Situated just a few blocks from Union Square and several subway lines, the location was superb. For the price it was super. I can highly recommend this hotel for visitors, and I would use it again myself. There are several bars that serve breakfast around, and I can recommend Jr. Joes just around the corner. - 11-Mar-2008 This was my second extended stay at Hotel 17, and again I found the hotel and its personnel to be top-drawer. The shared bathrooms were always clean and always free, even though the hotel was heavily booked.
The immediate neighborhood between 14th St and 23rd St. along 3rd Avenue is a marvel of affordable, but good restaurants, and good shopping from groceries to housewares to fashions. - 04-Mar-2008 Overall, you get what you pay for...Hotel 17 is nothing special, but it's clean enough, the people are nice enough.
