 This hotel, like others in the same locality and price range, is probably closer to 3 star than 4. However, the staff are friendly and cooperative, unlike many of the others and the breakfast is probably better than most of the others. In short, what you pay for is what you get. Rooms are very variable, and it is somewhat pot-luck at times...it adds interest though - not so boring as other standardised room hotels where you can picture in advance exactly the shape, size and bed etc positions.- 24-Feb-2009 The hotel has a disco within its vicinity which operates still late at night. I was fortunate to get a room which is far from the disco but I can still hear the music from the disco. My friends' room on the first night was directly above the disco and the music was so loud they couldn't rest at all. On the first night itself, they were moved to another room but they still could hear the loud music from their room.
Be sure to ask the hotel reception to give you a room far away from the disco if you want to have a peaceful night rest.- 07-Jan-2009 The hotel is well situated in the city! So far the good points...
Gulf Gate Hotel is looking shabby and has a very worn down feeling... This is the kind of hotel that would classify under 1 to 2 stars in other countries in the Middle East (similar rooms go in Oman for Ca 15 OR/BD).
Wouldn't stay here again... and I'm a well seasoned traveler in the Middle East who's looking for a good trade off between value and money!- 11-Dec-2008 |
