 The staff are impeccable, kind and try to be of help whenever you need. The location of the hotel was to my advantage as it was not too far from where I was working. However, the surrounding areas are not that upscale -- as evidenced by one of the signs in red and white neon that shouted ``The Angel's Pleasure''. The hotel is filled with Japanese tourists and businessmen -- There was no doubt as to who which nationality the majority of the guests were as many of the staff spoke fairly fluent Japanese. The staff also offers to write down destinations and phrases for you in Chinese characters so you can simply show it to the taxi driver or a passerby for help.- 07-Sep-2005 The Gloria (no longer Le Meridian) is a typical international 4 star hotel located well in downtown Taipai. The rooms are small but have all amenities (including coffee service and mini-bar) and are adequate. Staff is attentive and pleasant, but lobby seating minimal. The hotel is nice and quiet. At almost $100 double/per night w/o breakfast, the Gloria is a normal value in generally expensive Taipai. There are much cheaper ways to get a night''s sleep but at the 4 star level, the Gloria is pretty much average cost. Note - the restaurant is expensive (relatively). - 07-Sep-2005 This is my third stay at this hotel this year. The internet rate is excellent
and the hotel is located only blocks from several 5 star hotels, ( The Formosa
Regent, which has several great restaurants, The Nikko Hotel, & The Ambassador. It is a good business hotel that caters mostly to Japanese.
so there is limited english spoken but the front desk was helpful.It is very easy to get to the Hotel by taking the bus at the airport. It only cost about $3.50 US. Take the west line they have a stand at the airport. Internet service is avaiable in each room or you can you use the computers in the business centre on the 4 th floor. Or there is an internet cafe across the street on the second floor. with a route map in English. Make sure you watch for your stop as the drivers speak little if no Eglish , Get off at the Ambassador Hotel and its a one block walk. - 07-Sep-2005 |
