This is the second time we have stayed at the E & O. It is a beautiful hotel in the heart of Georgetown. The rooms are extremely spacious and comfortable whilst the remainder of the hotel has a wonderful atmosphere. - 11-Dec-2006 Having read a little bit about the fascinating history of this place, we weren''t disappointed. Georgetown on the whole had an amazing crumbling, decadent yet elegant feel; and the E & O epitomised this, only without the crumbling bit! The hotel was amazing, the rooms superb. If it wasn''t for all the great food and shopping on the streets of Georgetown, we never would have left the room!- 07-Sep-2005 One negative comment: there was a surprising sloppiness in record-keeping and communication between staff. They showed me to the wrong room initially; later they still had the room I was in showing as vacant on their records; I extended my stay for a day but they still rang my room at midday to find out why I hadn''t checked out! And I when asked them to get some info for me on excursions for the next day, no-one ever got back to me; but they had in fact booked me on a trip - I didn''t find out until the next day, about an hour before it left!
Not major things but indicative of a need for some tightening-up of management and administrative discipline.
This should not be taken as a criticism of the staff individually, who were friendly and eager to help. And the fabric of the hotel is absolutely splendid. I would certainly stay there again. - 07-Sep-2005 |
