This hotel has been completely refurbished in it's original style.
It is an excellent location for George town and is a very pleasant place to stay.
The staff are very good, friendly, helpful and most obliging.
I can unequivocaly recommend the E&O to the most discerning traveler- 01-May-2007 The E&O was more expensive than most other hotels on the island, but as one cab driver said: 'it's the number one hotel in Penang'. The hotel itself was well maintained and had an old-world grandeur befitting its history. The pool was nice, there was in-room internet (50MYR a day) and the staff were exponentially helpful. Facilities were as could be expected (gym/pool/restaurants/bar) and the only criticisms I have are 1) the expense of borrowing a DVD player - 150 MYR! (it rained for two days, and the storms knocked out the satellite TV), and 2) the main dining and bar areas were far too cold.
Everything else was excellent, as you would expect given the relative expense of staying there. - 23-Mar-2007 One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Old world character with the best facilities and service. Similar to Raffles in Singapore.- 07-Jan-2007 |
