Detroit

Detroit is one of the largest cities in the United States and has the largest Arab population outside the Mid-East. The Arab American National Museum reflects the Arab civilization’s contribution to the world through displays of mathematics, science, medicine, architecture, and decorative arts.

In the Cultural Center of Detroit is the Charles H. Wright Museum, the largest African American museum in the world, that chronicles the slavery era, the civil rights struggle and the Underground Railroad. Visitors to the Detroit Zoo can watch polar bears and seals swim from an underwater tunnel in the Artic Ring of Life. Outdoor and indoor exhibits, including an Inuit village, depict Artic people and wildlife. Other displays at the zoo include African Grasslands, Australian Outback and the Giraffe House.
