The public rooms in the Hotel were excellent, but the same can not be said of Room 127. It was very hot and stuf
fy - as the floor seemed permanently hot, it must have been directly over the boiler room. Whilst spotlessly clean and with modern fittings in the shower and bedroom, some facilities were woefully inadequate, or non-existant! There was no telephone in the room, the TV was more or less useless, there was no chair in the room, a very small window with obscured glass looking on to a scruffy flat roof,- no curtains! There was one wardrobe wi
th no shelves, and hence nowhere to put any clothes at all. The washbasin might have suited a midget, but was quite useless as a washbsin for anyone over the age of six months. I think that this hotel is best avioded by anyone not prepared to put up with the above. As the hotel was, allegedly, full
the staff could not change my room, and the promised repairs to the TV did n
ot materialse!- 16-Sep-2007 General areas of the hotel very good.
Bathroom well modernised however the rooms themselves were very tired however.
Poor soundproofing.
The heating system is antiquated (the hotel is reminescent of an old liner in more than one respect) and seemed to be stuck on in certain parts of the building.
Mattress had seen better days.
General decor needs a revamp and better use of room space (which generally is not great).
However staff are absolutely lovely and the location fantastic.
The revamp of the hotel needs to be completed to justify the room rates which are excessive for the standard of the hotel at present.
Worth a revisit (if) when complete.
One last thing ... c'mon guys how much does it cost to bulk buy some reasonable quality loo roll.- 18-Aug-2007 Not much parking space tho I was lucky and got a space.
My room was above the bar and the music thumped loudly until 12 midnight. On the Saturday there was a wedding party at the hotel and the music went on until well after 1am. I phoned the reception at 1.15am and was told that they were just about to play Auld Lang Syne.
Guests were running around shouting in the corridors until 2.30.
The hotel must have known about the wedding party I think they put me in that room because the rate was cheap. I will not return.- 16-May-2007 |
