Was not impressed when my bf and I checked into the Bristol. They were overbooked and had not called to let us know of any problems. They booked us at the Ibis hotel which quite frankly, sucked and offered us each a complimentary cocktail which tasted terrible!
The only saving grace was the hotel paid for our taxi fare to and back from the Ibis and we then checked into the Bristol for the final two nights of our stay. Was pleasantly surprised by our room as it was larger than expected so we assumed they may have 'upgraded' us due to messing up our first night. The restaurant was good with a great breakfast buffet although they decided to close it early on the Sunday without letting people know in advance except from a sign outside the restaurant in the morning which was too late for a few people.
If I was to give the hotel marks out of 10 I would give it 6 1/2. The lack of communication from the staff and the varying levels of service you get lets it down. - 26-Oct-2006 I booked a twin room 5 months before my stay but arrived to find they had given my colleague and I a double. The staff said there was nothing they could do as the hotel was fully booked. Having accused first me and then [your website] of being at fault, they found their copy of the booking which clearly showed that a twin was booked – not a double – and that the mistake was theirs. They still insisted that there were no other rooms until another receptionist found an empty twin. This turned out to be small, less than clean, smelling of damp, hot and without air conditioning. Because of the heat we had to leave the window open at night, but the room was next to a noisy road, making it hard to sleep even with earplugs. The staff refused to change the room and at no point did they apologise for their mistakes. The cost was over £300 ($550) a night, and the hotel refused to refund any of the money.- 09-Oct-2006 |
