My group of 8 stayed for one night in early August. We all arrived on an early flight but was pleasantly surprised to be able to check into one room at 8am. The hotel is located within walking distance to Gouger Street, a main food street where China Town is also located plus the Central Market. This is also a good base if you wish to pick up a hired car from Hertz, which is located 5 minutes away.
The rooms are decent and warm enough for all of us who are not used to the cold weather. True to its name, there were plenty of old movie posters and the sky light within the hotel room area keeps the place bright and cheery.
The only downside is that the hotel does not serve breakfast and the deli next door does not open on a Sunday.- 14-Aug-2007 I stayed in the Hotel section, it is adjacent to the Historic Director's Hotel , and internal access is available from that Hotel's didning and gaming area. The Gouger Street restaurant area is a short walk, but the Thai Restaurant in the Hotel is superb, food is excellent quality and presentation and the specials are keenly priced. The rooms are modern, well presented and quiet.24 Hour reception is a plus and check-in check out simple and efficient. - 05-Aug-2007 The Hotel (pub) and the restaurant inside the hotel were fantastic. Rooms, although small, were clean and tidy. About a 10 min walk to the cafe strip on Gouger St, although a bit to far to walk to the city, unless you are feeling energetic. Overall, very relaxing and pleasant stay.- 19-Apr-2007 |
