 Beautiful hotel in a quiet residential district on the Eastern fringe of Venice. Not as far from San Marco as other reviews might imply - 10 mins on the Vaporetto You would need to be monumentally lazy or impatient to consider that 'too far'. The staff were unfailingly courteous and patient. The real test of a hotel comes if you have a complaint, and in this the Sant'Elena passed with flying colours. We were assigned a very small room with a double bed on arrival - two gents. We had also needed a smokers room but [website] does not provide a facility for requesting that. We said we were not happy, but to be fair, we had arrived late - 10.30 pm, and they had no other rooms available. The next day they moved our luggage into a very nice garden room with separate beds for the rest of our stay - not very much bigger, but better laid-out for space. Not even a hint of annoyance from them. Well done, and thank you!- 25-May-2009 Charming accomadations. Good breakfast.
