 nice hotel but all the road works around it makes it a hassle to get to- 28-Oct-2009 Very satisfied. Good hotel, friendly and helpful staff.- 10-Jan-2009 A beautiful old style hotel with a lot of character and history (it was the place to be seen back in the 1930's, so a lot of 'identities' such a Charlie Chaplin and Albert Einstein have stayed there). Rooms were very large, clean and functional.
Down side is that service is overall poor - staff friendly when you directly approach them, but otherwise don't acknowledge or assist 'unprompted'. Another downside is that major construction work is being carried out next to the hotel at the moment (we had noisy work starting at 5.00 am and continuing through to 11.00 pm.) This work is building a road that will pass by one side of the hotel (and be quite noisy!)
Great staying there for the nostalgia, but would not stay there again or recommend to a friend.
