Some staff were more helpful than others. We were told that we would need to take a taxi to the airport (TXL) for approximately 35 euros. However, we asked at the train station and learned that we could take a bus from Alexanderplatz for 2.4 euros...a major savings.
Our room (twin) included a small kitchenette which would have been handy had we been staying longer in the city.
A tram from Alexanderplatz stops right outside the hotel. The hotel is not as close to the TV tower as the picture on the internet site would lead one to believe. I would recommend the hotel. - 06-Jan-2008 The hotel has 9 floors and due to heavy traffic on should, if possible, choose one of the upper floors.- 07-Oct-2007 Hotel conveniently located within walking distance of Alexanderplatz station, at the top of Otto Braun Street. Looks like a block of council flats but don't be put off by the outside. Friendly staff; Breakfast good and varied, but you have to be early to get the scrambled egg as it's everyones favourite. Rooms are clean and spacious, with cooking facilities, but no utensils. Bring a small saucepan and mugs and spoons if you want to heat up snacks and water for tea. Hotel bar fairly expensive but I don't think they'd object if you brought in your own wine/beer from the supermarket. The hotel front is on Mollstrasse - turn right and about 30 yards away on the opposite side of the road is a supermarket which is quite reasonable.
Traffic noise was unbearable with window open but once closed it was fine.
Alexanderplatz is a hub for all the trainlines so getting around is easy. - 02-Oct-2007 |
