For those adventurous travellers who wish to travel overland through Central Australia, this is the 6 day camping safari for you. Journey by 4WD vehicle from Perth to Alice Springs, along the Gunbarrel Highway and across the Great Victoria Desert.

Camp under the desert stars as you travel to one of Australia's most famous outback destinations - Ayers Rock.

This tour is seasonal and has select departures between September 2004 through to March 2005 and September 2005 through to March 2006

Itinerary:
Day 1: Perth / Kalgoorlie / Menzies (L, D)
Depart Perth by 4WD vehicle at 7:30am and head east away from the coast and towards the central desert regions of Australia. Through the jarrah forests of the Darling Ranges and on to the wheat growing areas, before passing through the gold mining town of Kalgoorlie to your overnight stay near Menzies, camping under the stars.

Day 2: Menzies / Great Victoria Desert (B, L, D)
Today, leave the sealed road behind and journey into The Great Victoria Desert. By now you should feel and see the remoteness of the desert, keep your eyes open for wild camels. Another night is spent around the campfire.

Day 3: Great Victoria Desert (B, L, D) Today is spent traveling through Aboriginal Reserves, Warburton, Giles and onto Docker River. Join the famous Gunbarrel Highway, as you take in the local sights and visit Lasseter's Cave.

Day 4: Great Victoria Desert / Uluru (B, L, D)
Today is Uluru (Ayers Rock) day, but first a visit to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). Walking amongst these ancient forms, it now becomes clear why the Aboriginals consider this area sacred from their Dreamtime. Then onto Uluru to watch its famous sunset, rich in colour and truly amazing.

Day 5: Uluru / Kings Canyon (B, L, D)
There will be an early rise today for those feeling energetic enough to climb the rock, followed by a tour of the base, exploring rock formations and Aboriginal art sites. Depart this wondrous place you will make your way by 4WD, cross country to the George Gill Ranges and Kings Canyon.

Day 6: Kings Canyon / Alice Springs (B, L)
For several hours after breakfast you will explore the spectacular Kings Canyon and all its rugged beauty. Visit the Lost City and Garden of Eden, then continue through Finke River and into the oasis of Palm Valley. After lunch, its off to Alice Springs, central town of Australia for the completion of your central Australian Adventure.
